Congratulations to Holly Philbrick, whose Gold Medal at the Niagara Region Science Fair qualified her to be one of the four members of "Team Niagara" who traveled to New Brunswick in May to compete in the Canada-Wide Science Fair! Holly's project, in which she worked with Brock Professor Dr. Atkinson and grad students as part of her cooperative education placement, involved creating a synthetic molecule that mimics Vitamin E but has no anti-oxidant qualities. Her molecule will be used in animal studies to assess the qualities of the alpha-tocopherol transfer protein.
Holly spent the entire week in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where she was able to tour the city in between the public viewings of the science projects and the judging, participating in a number of different events with her Team Niagara teammates as well as with students from across the country. Well done, Holly!
