Dancers Clean the Floor at Kiwanis Dance Competition

On Saturday, April 11th, Laura Secord’s Contemporary and Hip Hop Dance Teams competed at the Kiwanis Dance Festival held here at Laura Secord. I am proud to announce that both the Contemporary and Hip Hop Dance Team came in 1st place winning Gold Medals for the Best Overall Dances. The Contemporary Team also won the Most Picturesque Award and the Hip Hop Team won the From the Heart Award. Celeste Brillion came in 1st place winning the Gold Medal for the best overall solo in the Advanced Category. Makayla Rogerson came in 1st place winning the Silver Medal for the best overall solo in the Novice Category. Lauren Narhi and Leah Mills came in 1st Place winning a Silver Medal for the best overall duet in the Advanced Category.

Other Awards within their categories were,

  1. Cassidy Smith, Jasmine Lougheed and Trinity Lougheed won a Gold Medal for their Hip Hop Trio. They also won the Swag Award.
  2. Celeste Brillion won a Gold Medal for her Pointe Solo and she also won the Prima Ballerina Award.
  3. Shae Dutcher won a Silver Medal for her Lyrical Solo. She also won the Emotional Execution Award.
  4. Karly McKenna won a Silver Medal for her lyrical solo and won the Emotional Connection Award.
  5. Shae Dutcher and Michaela Ings won a Silver Medal for their lyrical duet and also won the Emotional Execution Award for their duet.
  6. Lauren Narhi and Leah Mills won a Silver Medal for their contemporary duet and won the Amazing Teamwork Award.
  7. Michaela Ings won a Silver Medal for her lyrical solo.
  8. Makayla Rogerson won a Silver Medal for her lyrical solo and won The Most Potential Award.
  9. Lauren Narhi won a Gold Medal for her contemporary solo and won the Best Choreography Award.
